Some crafting recipes require the player to 'Pummel' a node. This is achieved by repeatedly punching the node (clicking on it) without breaking it. It's not necessary to punch very fast, just under a second between punches; additionally, since this process is time-based, punching faster will have no effect.

If the node is being pummeled under the right conditions, special particle effects will appear, indicating that the pummel is valid. These conditions may include performing the pummel with a specific item in hand, on a specific face of the target node, and the surrounding nodes being adequate. Furthermore, recipes that involve pummeling a stack of items may depend on the number of items in the stack.
