A log is a node that can be obtained from Tree Trunks.
Obtaining
Logs can be mined with a Hatchet and will drop themselves. Logs can also be Pummelled from the top with an Adze to drop 4 Wooden Planks.
Difference from Tree Trunk
Although Logs look like Tree Trunks, Logs do not fall and are not naturally generated.
Usage
In crafting, Logs can be Pummelled with an Adze to make 4 Wooden Planks for use in crafting, building, or making a Fire. In building, Logs are chiefly used as walls or as decorative trimming in corners.
